In the US, few things are so obsessed over as weight. There seems to be a diet for everything. The apple diet, the low-carb diet, the paleo diet, they all sound good on paper. But do they actually work? It depends. More and more, research is showing that a customized diet is much more effective than a one-size-fits-all diet plan. Furthermore, some people are genetically predisposed to carry more body fat than others. So you may find yourself going on a strict diet of your choice, and sticking to it, only to find the weight creeping back on. A clear example is a recent study involving participants of the television show “The Biggest Loser.” Researchers found that although participants on average lost 129 pounds each, after six years, most of them had gained at least 70 percent of that weight back.
